In my role at 1st Choice Home Inspections, I've often seen clients worried about mysterious water stains on their ceilings. Thermal imaging can confirm water is present, but it's even more effective when paired with a reliable moisture meter.

My investigation involves going into the attic to search for the source, like roof leaks, condensation from HVAC ducts, or faulty pipes. It's important to remember that the thermal camera alone might not provide an immediate answer. It offers valuable clues that, combined with other data, help gradually uncover the root cause. A thermal imaging camera isn't a magic solution; it's one tool in my toolbox. Using it effectively requires understanding how it works and when to use it. I've received rigorous training and certification from InterNACHI® to ensure I can operate an infrared camera properly.

My training covered building science in depth, including subjects like water movement (hydrodynamics) and heat flow (thermodynamics). This knowledge is crucial for getting the most out of thermal imaging. I've mastered the underlying physics, camera operation, building science principles, and how to apply thermal imaging in real-world situations.
